What we do

HUP is a charity which has a holistic approach to tackling poverty and homelessness. So far, our focus has been on the Street Run program, however, we have been working on new, more comprehensive programs to aid the homeless more effectively. Ultimately, we aim to have an important impact on people’s lives. These new programs will be implemented throughout 2021 and aim to provide legal services, temporary housing information as well as reintegration of the homeless into society

Street run

Our Street Run team consists of a small group of volunteers that walk the streets of Glasgow every weekend offering warm drinks, sleeping bags or even just a well-needed chat for rough sleepers. As our volunteers usually travel the same routes week-to-week, they have gotten to know the homeless community well and, in some cases, have created meaningful relationships with them. Additionally, they have the chance to talk about personal matters and often will be able to help them in a more practical manner. In total, the Street Run takes about 2 hours. In this time several homeless people are fed and seen to. Humanity Uplifting People hope to create similar programs in 2021, throughout Scotland. We hope to help homeless people in cities like Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen.

Upcoming Programs

Change Program

Through close monitoring and the support of personal advisors, the Change program hopes to reintegrate homeless people back into society. This will work in cycles throughout the year. Each cycle will have roughly 6 different stages, starting from an evaluation stage, to a monitoring stage at the end of the process. If you believe homeless people deserve a chance to be reintegrated back into society then please consider donating below using the button.

Outreach program

This program aims to provide crucial and practical information for homeless people hoping to get back into work. This information will be shared to homeless communities via mobile kiosks. Information would be provided by specialists in housing, benefits, legal systems, job hunting and CV help. Additionally, support in trying to find out home-ownership eligibility will be provided. These sorts of opportunities are not easy to come by in you are sleeping rough, however, with your help we can bring this information to the people who need it the most.
