Volunteer FAQs
Volunteering is your opportunity to give a little and gain a lot back! Volunteering is an all round enriching life experience. Being a volunteer at HUP is a fantastic opportunity to:
- Join a community who is dedicated to having a real and valuable effect on people, communities and society in general.
- Meet new people who’ll become lifelong friends.
- Take on a challenge by opening yourself up to new experiences where you’ll have the opportunity to use your talents, achieve personal goals and learn new skills.
- Have fun while doing social good!
At HUP, all volunteers are part of the HUP family which means you have a support network to help and guide you so that you feel confident in your role.
A member of the HUP family will also be in regular contact to help you identify and achieve your goals. HUP volunteers will receive all of the training where required to complete your role confidently and safely.
This depends on the type of volunteering you undertake. One of the HUP volunteer specialists will be in touch and advise which documents are required where necessary.
Your application or query is passed on to the most suitable HUP team member for the type of volunteering that you would like to do. The HUP team will get in touch via email to arrange the next steps within 3 working days.
Your first day as a volunteer will depend on the type of volunteering you are doing. There will be common features across all the roles.
- Meet your team.
- Provide you with further information about your role within your volunteer team.
- An induction session where you will meet the HUP family and gain an understanding of how the different teams work together. During your induction, the HUP team will also take you through procedures to ensure that you are safe during your volunteering with us and familiar with any required procedures.
